Can't go wrong with the original classic black! I just picked that for my SR CTO. Its simple and is not "loud" if you know what I mean. Titanium Gray would be my second choice as they both look very professional and clean.

I have the Vaio SR Black. I don't like it much though since a lot of the paint has worn off and the colors kind of look wierd.

Thus, I would probably prefer white, but i have never seen a white Vaio notebook with my own eyes live, only in pictures on the web.

Do you have any pictures of the "worn off" black? I would think the white would look far worse when it eventually wears. Not to mention the dirt and grime magnet it's going to be.

Yeah I believe the white would be worse off for long period of use. Faded colors, grime and dirt.

But it IS a very attractive color!

White is very attractive. I have a white audi and it looks awesome when it's clean. But when it's dirty, forget about it! It looks awful. Same goes for electronics. The white iphones look decent because they're shiny and polished. The matte-like white surface on the SR 4xx will likely need pampering to keep that 'new in box' appearance.

I think HTC is onto something by coating their new white Hero with Teflon. Hopefully other manufacturers will follow suit on light-colored devices: http://gizmodo.com/5302637/htc-heros-teflon-coating-makes-the-iphone-feel-like-junk

I'd go with Classic Black or Titanium Gray.

Personally, I think the images posted on a manufacturer's website are never accurate. They are too Photoshopped.

If you want a real-world photo, try Flickr (ignore all images from Sony Electronics), or simply a review site like this one :)

When I saw these in the store, they only had the Classic Black, Glossy Pink and
Champagne Gold. I was so excited when I saw that they also had Alpine white, because I love the white in the NW series but not the design. Has anyone seen the alpine white and if so, is it also white on the keyboard part, or silver like in some of the other colors? If it is all white, I am def getting that one!

It looks like the white is only white for the lid and silver for the rest... not exactly a white notebook.

I'm on the fence between the gray and black and can't make the decision without more pics (if anyone has some pls pls pls post!). The report on the black rubbing off is worrisome and don't know how a full black notebook would compliment or clash with my desk, so I dunno now :(

Stupid Sony, always making purchase decisions harder with lack of pics.

Wash your hands with soap so the grease/oils don't wear out keys as fast.

I think that the grey with black keys looks good. Kind of thinking twice about the black with black keys. idk though.

I saw the Champagne Gold at a SonyStyle store, and liked the way the keyboard was silver/grey-ish with the keys colored white. It looked different, and I liked it.

Yes! I like the black keys on silver. Not so sure about the black on black.

Can anyone confirm that on the 490 the keys on the silver are black? And on the black, are the keys the same colour? Thanks a lot!

Once you go black, you will never go back.

    So I choose black.

    Partly to hide my dirt.

My 2nd choice is the gold color. It really look nice.

I struggled with this decision. Thought the gold would look nice until I went to a Sony Style store and saw it. Too light a color and I didn't like the white keyboard. I know you can't go wrong with black but my Titanium Gray should be here tomorrow. Interestingly enough, it was the only color they did not have on display in the store.

Does anyone actually have the WHITE one? I want to see it, without photoshop... There is only some pictures of white SR, but with black keys, so it is not the true "alpine white" colored SR.
