    Thread to keep track of worldwide release dates. If you have any information for your particular country please post it here.

    I am particularly interested in the Australian release dates as this is where I am :D But if you have any info about regional release dates (other than the US and certain parts of Europe which have already been announced) please post here.

    Regarding Australia I read on the main thread that someone working at a retailer in aus said that they had stock info already. Can anyone else confirm this?

    According to Sony Style, the SR will ship starting July 28th and the Z will ship starting August 15th.

    I added configs for each to my cart (still deciding and not sure at all, ugh) and that's what came up in the fine print, also saying that I would be billed after they ship.

    And yeah, they're US dates.

    The Canadian sony site just mentions the FW series. They says "The VAIO FW series will be available online at www.sonystyle.ca. They will also be sold at Sony Style retail stores and select retailers around the country starting later this month." That's not really saying much lol.

    Yeah I think there are always delays when it comes to new tech but who knows? You should check that with sony though.

    Thanks neilt0. I'm crossing my fingers that the dual channel SSD version of the Z will be showing up in the next month or so. I'm not bothered at all about Blu-Ray, so not having the option of both isn't a biggie for me.

    Any ideas when the TZ41 might grace us with its presence? ;)

    There aren't many around, I think all the distributors have sold out (not the retailers).

    Looks like the FW will be available in titanium gray and white for the outside lid. Does anyone know whether the white is a glossy finish or whether it is a flat matte finish and if it is plastic or a composite metal alloy?

    Thanks for the good info eddieaus. Called up a few sony stores in Australia and they haven't even heard of the new VAIO series and claim that Sony Australia have told them nothing about getting new VAIO lines in!

    Damn I hate the fact that Australia gets everything last :mad:

    yeah i'm waiting for the Australian release as well, so i can decide whether get it in Australia or in China. The Chinese pricing is kinda odd, SR starts at AUD1660, FW starts at AUD1811. no official price for the Z yet, but i've heard likely to be AUD2700+, very expensive indeed :mad:

    SR starting price of AUD1660 sounds alright compared with the AUD2199 EffZee has stated will be the RRP for the VGNSR16GNB/P/S (which has rather average specs). Atleast it's not has bad as the 3500+ Sony Australia were charging for the SZ but with the aussie dollar as high as USD 0.975 right now we really are still being raped by these exorbitant prices.

    @EffZee Could you perhaps disclose the retailer where you work (if you're not going to get in trouble for it :p ) and let us know if the system you're getting these prices from gives you any indication of availability of these models?

    that is just so sad, even with 9% GST claim it's still a rip off! i guess i'll just have to import an entry level Z from the states. i'd rater lose the warranty than being ripped off $1000.

    SR19VN is available in distribution in the UK today (18 July). I think it actually came in yesterday, so should be at some retailers from today.
    EDIT: SR19XN due Tuesday 22nd July.

    Ab Ende August 2008 (34. Kalenderwoche) sollen die Notebooks der Vaio-Z-Serie in Deutschland verfügbar sein.

    In Germany, Z series will come last week of August (34. calendar week)

    My Sony Centre in the UK says that they will be getting in all Z series and SR series within the next week and a half. They will be in store so that should be interesting to see if they actually make it.

    thanks for the heads up. i'm actually heading back to perth this coming weekend but most of my savings are tied up in a singaporean bank (in SGD), and i won't be back to use that money on a new vaio until end October. :(

    maybe if i'm in luck, a mate of mine might be back in Singapore to help me buy my vaio around August, so I don't have to wait 2 extra months :p.

    But that press release only says you can pre-order the Z from Aug 13 - Aug 31 and get a free mouse...it doesn't say when it will ship. Looks like September if you ask me... :(

    SonyCentral World Square (Sydney) have just recieved stock of the new SR/FWs and will be on display by Monday.

    Z is currently not in their system.

    Thanks for the link. Wow AUD$2,199 is pretty steep for the SR. At least it's got the ATI HD3470 in it....and at least we're apparently getting it on Monday by the looks of it! :p
