I've got a Dell XPS M1330, and it's scheduled for pickup/return tomorrow. I really like the notebook, but I cannot stand that nasty whine from the C4 state as power goes to and from the CPU/motherboard.

My understanding is that the motherboard design can have an impact on how noticeable, if at all, that sound is.

So, my question is this: for those of you running an SZ, how bad is that sound? If you've ever been around an M1330, how does it compare?

    Thanks.

I've tried a SZ series before. The sound is minimal.

Yeah, the sound isn't that loud. I can't say much about the M1330, since i've never bought or been around one.
