    Hey,

I've just noticed that when the computer is locked or logged off and its plugged in and its at full brightness and if you unplug the power it should dim down. Mine doesn't do this. I'm getting a little worried...

Someone with a vaio SZ and did an xp downgrade. Could they please test if theirs dims...

    This will be most appreciated!

Try manually pulling the brightness down in the circumstance where it does not right now. There should be a key combo that you can hit.

These programs (or BIOS) remember a lot of settings for brightness so you probably need to just tell it once what you want.

    ey,

I can manually adjust it, i just want it to work automatically. My bios is quite basic - theres nothing to it. The vaio power management does not have anything to do with logon. Could it be just my computer, how its designed... drivers etc...

An SZ7 with Vista Business. My own clean install.

When at the login screen the brightness does dim. But it shouldn't as in power settings I have plugged and unplugged brightness both set to 50%.

So I'm the opposite, I don't want it to dim and it does :)

I'll have a play in more depth tomorrow, time to logoff and go home.
