    Vaio SZ system config services

    hi,

    was examing my VAIOs system confing and found the following services which im not sure if i can disable or not:

    MSCSPTISRV
    PACSPTISRV
    SONY SPTI
    VAIO Entertainment TV Device Arbitration
    VAIO Event service
    Vaio entertainment UPnp Client Adapter
    Vaio entertainment database service
    Vaio entertainment file import service
    XAudioService
    Sigmatel Audio Service

    looked around the net and couldnt find much help. anyone know what these are used for and if its ok to disable?

    Try BleepingComputer, Process Library, liutilities, or ElderGeek. You should be able to find info on most of your processes at those sites.

    useful sites thanks. but does anyone have experience stopping the processes?

    go to the MS knowledgebase and look up SERVICES.MSC

    read it until you FULLY understand it. THEN disable the services you are speaking of. I suggest only doing 1 service at a time and testing before starting on another service. JMHO...

    i did some digging while doing a clean install of vista, and here's what i know of the services listed above.

    event service: this is needed for the sony specific hardware features (s1, s2, fn buttons, etc).

    xaudio: install by modem driver.

    sigmatel: install by the audio driver.
