I've pretty much decided on an SZ, and to buy one from portable one. But what's the difference between the two? It seems like one is lighter... 3.9 vs. 4.1... and for that extra .2 pound you pay a lot more for less. Can someone tell me more?

    an example being:
    VAIO SZ
    (T7500 2.2GHz 13.3" XB WXGA 2GB 160GB DVD±RW CAM 56K 10/1000 WiFi BT FP BUS)
    Code: VGNSZ640N05
    Price: $1,799.00

    Premium SZ
    (T7250 2.0GHz 13.3" XB WXGA 1GB 120GB DVD±RW CAM 56K 10/1000 WiFi BT FP BUS)
    Code: VGNSZ680N01
    Price: $1,799.00

I'm almost set on the first one, just not sure about this Premium vs. Vaio thing.

LED is brighter, consumes less energy, and lets the lid to be razor like.

LED screens are still LCDs. The difference is the actually method of backlighting.

Traditional LCDs use cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL) to light the screen whereas the new technology LCDs use light-emitting diodes (LED). Whats the difference? Power consumption, brightness, and viewing angels are all theoretically supposed to improve.

I would take the premium SZ with a T7250, LED screen and then upgrade it to a Penryn processor next year.

    of course not.
i looked through my pc, and found a last year review of Sony SZ2. dated 20/04/2006. So, you see how many times Sony updated SZ-series.

Actually it's pretty doubtful that you can due to Intel saying the voltage regulators don't conform for Penryn compatibility. But we'll have to wait and see.
