I have an SZ120p that came with a standard battery and my boss gave me his extended life battery from his SZ220 because he never uses it. I know that the battery was working in his system about six months ago when it was first being set up. Since then, it's been sitting unused. It's the OEM Vaio battery model VGP-BPL2C. I'm assuming that the battery should work for both laptops though I haven't had too much luck confirming this anywhere. I was reading some on another site about a startup process that checks for authentic sony batteries but it isn't running on my system. I just got this used and I believe it was a fresh install of xp. I'm wondering if there's something required for this notebook to recognize this battery and use it. It says 0% charging and never changes. I find it hard to believe that this battery that's probably less than a year old with maybe 5 cycles on it could be worthless, unless I just am not well versed in batteries. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't have access to another sz at the moment to test this in and was going to leave this laptop with my brother who lives out of state and who I'm visiting at the moment. The standard battery that came with the notebook is well used and gives maybe 1/2 hr run time so that won't work.
    Thanks!

That is the correct eextended life battery for your SZ...not sure if it is just a bad battery. I wonder if the battery just sitting around unused makes it go bad quicker.

I wonder why your standard battery is lasting only 1/2 hr? How long has that been like that?

I have some possible good news. I found some information that said if the battery hasn't been used in a while it needs to be "kick started" to get charging again. It was recommended that I shake the battery a bit, plug it in and unplug it a few times from the laptop while the charger is plugged in (but the laptop is not turned on) and unplug the charger and plug it back in a few times over a 30 minute period of time. This all sounded crazy to me but I did just that last night and even smacked the battery with my hand a few times.... Well it charged to 100% and I am using it right now!

You can try doing this one . Reinstall Sony® Shared Library . Next Reinstall Sony® Notebook Utilities . Then Update the Vaio Event Service. This must be install in organized way install first Sony shared,Sony notebook Utilities , and vaio event service update.

Hope this one Helps. Because I encounter the problem once and forgot when was that.
