It's pretty annoying. Every time you change the volume, it beeps to show you how loud it is I suppose.

How do I stop it from doing this? Is it a Vista thing or a Vaio thing? Running Vista Business by the way.

I'm not sure how you might turn the beep off since I don't own a Vaio, but I can tell you that it is not a Vista thing... it must be a feature by Sony.

well, i know it is somewhere in the forum if you searched enough :)

Anyway, if you want to turn off annoying beeping.

Go to C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Event Service

find pi.wav, either rename it or delete it.

    Cheers

It's so pointless, considering there is also an on-screen display.

if you are talking about adjusting the volume lever (right click on the speaker icon on the right of the clock on the taskbar, slide the lever up / down, you hear a "ding!"), then it is a vista thing.

if you are talking about the "beep" when restoring sound from silent using the function keys, then it is a vaio thing.
