I just received my SZ2XP a couple days ago. This is my first Vaio, so I have no personal experience. Could any experts please help me with my problem?
Everything in the machine works perfectly except one thing, and that's the battery. I have locked the battery but the battery just doesn't sit properly into the slot. I have personally measured it, and there is actually an approximately 0.7mm difference in width between the battery "holders" on the laptop and the battery's "grid/slot". They are loose such that the moment when I turn it upside down, it will make "clonking" noise, as the result of the gap.
Is that normal? I have read several threads that some people also have this problems. Can it be replaced from Sony?
Thanks a lot for your time guys. I really appreciate it.

sse the thread about fixing it. it's a design defect and sony wont do anything but replace it with another loose battery. you put tape under the battery to fix
-
Thanks for the prompt reply, neilk2350. Are you saying that all products from this model suffer this design defect? As I heard some people don't have this problem. So it's a bit unfair if Sony doesn't want to replace it.
By thw way, neilk2350 can you please show me the "fixing thread" you are talking, I am a newbie here?
Thanks a lot, neilk2350. -
Just put some tape on top of the battery to fill the gap. Simple fix
-
Thanks idex, yes, I know by putting some tape will close the gap. But I paid £1500 for this high-end laptop, so I personally think this problem should be fixed in a proper manner.
By the way idex, do you know whether all products of SZ2XP suffer this problem? As I heard some people don't have this problem. Which one is true?
Thanks a lot, idex -
everyone's batteries are loose and clonks
-
I think it's a common problem with all Sony Vaio S and SZ Series.

my battery sits nicely. it is not loose
-
Yes, I had and have it on my S1HP, S2XP and SZ1HP. To a lesser extent on the SZ1HP. It seems Sony don't R&D their equipment properly. It may look nice but functionality always seems to be lacking.

Everyone i know who has a S or SZ series has the same issue. Just my experience.

Hmm.. not worth £1500 item
. Anyway, thanks a lot guys for the feedbacks.

I have an s660, and the battery fit in decently, very minimal rattling, what I did to fix it was tape, cut rubber bands to the sides on the battery which come in contact with the laptop, taping only the ends with electrical tape it eliminated the rattling. I used the thick/wide rubber bands. its a ncie little fix that doesn;t put a piece of tape on the bottom of your laptop
