Hey all. The optical drive on my sz430n/b is not showing up in My Computer. I can hear the drive spinning when i insert a disc but nothing happens after that. Its a very new laptop so I figure I just messed something up when removing bloatware. Can someone help me find a driver or offer some advice?

    Thanks in advance!

Yeah, when you removed the Roxio CD creator, you killed your optical drive. Been there, done that. My solution was to do a full system restore but you might be able to get away with just restoring Roxio via VAIO restore.

I don't know if there is any way to remove Roxio and not have this problem. I kept it the second (and third) time around. Hope you figure things out!

Assuming you still have your recovery partition intact:
    C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Data Restore Tool\Restore.exe

Or type in VAIO Restore in your Vista start menu. I don't know if a simple re-install will do it for you but that's a start.

Hey nice. I went through all this back in March or something. Lucky me! Good to see there is a Sony solution.
