What is the difference between the SZ470N/C and SZ491N/X?

Sonystyle USA website lists identical specs, but the cost is $2499 and $2699, respectively.

It's the deliciously tantalizing carbon fiber outer casing which shows the fibers. The computer is the same everything (including weight). it's purely aesthetic. i myself got the 491N cause i decided not to hold back on anything (this was my graduation gift to myself after many hard years of grad schoool). But if you are more budget conscience and less interested in looks and prestige, go for the savings.

My next question is: what is the difference between the SZ450N/C and SZ460N/C?

Yes, the only difference is the Cingular WWAN.

Are you forced to have that obnoxious antenna sticking out of the back right of the unit if you get the WWAN model (SZ460)? So this is the only difference b/w the SZ450 and SZ460?

SonyStore USA only carries the SZ460N/C and SZ491N/X.

Amazon and plenty of other websites have it priced lower. It's expected Sony would have it for a higher price, considering the 300 series use to cost more then the 400 series on their website.

You can get a brand new 450 for around 1900.00

How is the speed of the harddrive? the website says it is 42oo rpm only. My 3-years old fujitsu s6210 uses 5400 rpm.

how is the speed? it's 4200rpm. it's slow. but frankly it doesn't matter to me with the apps i run and tasks i do. with a faster hard driveperhaps i would notice a speed increase, perhaps not.

i've not ruled out upgrading this sometime down the road once the warranty is expired. but for now, i'm happy as a lark and loving it. :)
