Guys I'm new here and I'm really stuck so please hear me out.

I recently got the SZ61MN and was very annoyed with all the bloatware so I took matters in to my own hands and I did a clean installation of Vista Business. Before I did this I backed up my Vista OEM license and certificate.

After the clean installation I simply restored the license and certificate and all went well and vista was activated.

I then went about installing the drivers which I had downloaded from Sony before the clean installation. Most of the drivers installed but a few of them didn't have any .exe setup file or any .exe file so I was unable to install them. These drivers had other files with the .cat extension.

After installing the drivers I started to install the utilities one by one and after each one I did a restart.

Again everything was going well untill I installed ISB Utility. After installing this and doing a restart, I now keep getting a message somewhere along the lines of "The battery is not inserted properly or it may not be compatible with this computer, please press OK to hybernate and reinsert the battery"!

I'm using a Sony battery which came with the laptop and it worked fine the last 2 days when I had the original preinstalled sony vista.

Last night I used the recovery CD's to reinstall the system back to factory settings with all the bloatware and it worked fine without the battery error.

I really like the Vaio but the bloatware just ruins the whole experience.

Does anyone have experience with this error and know how to install drivers which don't have any .exe files?

If you require more information about which drivers etc then I will list them very soon.

I'm really hoping someone can help else it looks like I'm just going to have to manually remove all the bloatware the best I can.

    Thanking you in advance.

    Cheers.
