    Hi everyone !

Just got this great laptop from Kuwait, and found out that the internal wwan only works in the US with Sprint (EV-DO Rev.A) :( ... I live in Egypt and have no use for the Sprint service here...

What I'd like to do is replace the current wwan card with one that is compatible with 3G HSDPA, unfortunately it seems hard enough to purchase those cards as they are usally for OEM(s) only. I know there are USB and PCMCIA alternatives but I want to go with an all internal solution.

    Please help me out with:

    1. Where I can buy such cards (preferably with the GPS option)
    2. Any pics illustrating the steps for replacing the wwan card in the SZ770

Please post your notes if you were able to succesfully do this with your SZ laptop...

    Many thanks :)

I'm sure if you google hard enough, you'll find somebody selling the internal HSDPA.

THe WWAN is mini-pci-express and for 3G HSPDA you need an unlocked card WITH a SIM card reader. Here is one that I'm pretty sure will work. Should be a simple replacement with mini pci-e card. Check this out and Asalamalaikum! http://www.mobilx.hu/index.php?target=products&product_id=6381&currency=usd

This should work. Good luck! BTW I emailed them and they are unlocked modems!

Are you sure the antenna will match though? Maybe different antenna uses different frequencies?

Not sure about the antenna issue. Is the EVDO antenna same frequency as HSDPA? Not sure but this company (and others online) can sell you the correct antenna.

Thanks to everyone for helping me out here :D

    Seems expensive but worth it...

Anyone succeeded with such a replacement ??

I already have the EVDO card installed and has GPS so presumably I already have the neccessary antenna cables in the laptop unless they are incompatible

Any pics ? Its like commiting suicide dissecting this expensive piece of hardware :)

    thx again

Again, I think somebody has done this before, I think with a T61. Google is your friend.

With regard to antenna, I think EVDO and HSDPA use two different frequencies, but it might still work. Your signal just might be a bit lower. But try first, since antenna isn't too expensive in case you need to get another.
