I am interested in a Vaio TZ and I keep hearing these horror stories about how the screen is fragile. What has your experience been?

Also, has anyone found the extended warranty useful? The setup that I plan to get is 1599 with coupon, and the most worthwhile warranty is 279 so I don't know what exactly to do.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I asked the same question about the screen before I bought one.
I had the SZ and the TZ is the same screen as my SZ.
They are both the same thickness, and the durability is quit nice.
I never had problems with the SZ screen, and in the short time I have owned the TZ it feels solid.

I have a Vaio SZ650N/C, and my screen cracked. Interestingly enough, I used my laptop in the morning before I left for work, and everything was fine. When I came home, I found a crack through the screen. Sony, of course, says their warranty won't cover cracks in screens, and claims I must have done something to crack it.

Please also note that the LED backlit screens aren't easily sourced, so I'm going to have to send this back to Sony for repair -- the minimum cost, I've been told, is $700. No, thanks, I'm gonna buy a Dell or Lenovo instead.

Does the extended/accidental warranty covers the breaking of the screen?
