    Hi all,

I recently bought a Sony Vaio SE (VPCSE17FX/B), and reinstall it with my own Windows 7. Everything works fine but I am missing Share My Connection option in Vaio Smart Connect software. This option was available in the original install. I asked about this in the Vaio SE Owner's lounge, and was told that Intel My Wifi Technology (part of the Wifi driver) was required to enable this option. I had that installed. I also tried reinstalling the Intel Wifi driver and Vaio Smart Connect but it is unsuccesful. So I asked here again so that there are more people seeing my question.

Does anyone know how to get that option back? Is there anywhere in registry or some files that I can modify to enable this option?

Here are some brief reinstallation sequence:
    1. Windows 7
    2. All drivers, including the intel wifi from Sony website.
    3. Some Sony utilities including Vaio Care, Vaio Control Center, and Vaio Smart Connect.

    Thanks!

Do you have the Intel(R) My Wifi Technology program/icon on the start menu?

Start Menu\Programs\Intel PROSet Wireless\Intel(R) My Wifi Technology

Yes. The Intel My Wifi Technology program is there and I was able to create the sharing through that program. However, I would like to get the Share My Connection back since it was available in the original installation.

Anyone has answer to my question, how do you get the "Share My Connection" option in Vaio Smart Connect program after Windows 7 clean install?

For those who clean installed Windows, do you install Vaio Smart Connect? If so do you have the "Share My Connection" option? If so, in what sequence did you install drivers and Vaio software?

    Thanks!

Perhaps this will help. From release notes of Intel WiFi drivers and software:

Yes, I installed it prior to installing the Vaio Smart Connect.

Did you fresh install Windows 7 on your Sony Vaio? If so, did you install Vaio Smart Connect and have the "Share My Connection" option?

    Thanks!

    Hi ZugZug,

Thank you for your suggestion. The issue is the Vaio Smart Connect software does not have the "Share My Connection" option. If I use the Share My Internet option using the Intel Software, I can get share the internet connection. I can also share internet connection from Windows itself. However, I would like to get the "Share My Connection" option in the Vaio Smart Connect because it is more convenient to control them from one software.

Did you reinstall Windows 7 on your Sony Vaio? If so do you have Vaio Smart Connect installed and have the "Share My Connection" option?

    Thanks!

I see. Thanks for your answers. In case you want to fresh install Windows 7, you might run into the same problem. Unless there is some critical steps I missed during my fresh install.
