We all know that Sony has recently permanently discontinued the Vaio TT in North America. I was wondering if it was discontinued in any other regions? Its obvious the main reason it was discontinued here at least was the introduction of netbooks.
Generally, American consumers want to get the most laptop for their money, and balk at paying a premium for an ultraportable that doesn't have super-powerful specifications. I know that many are shocked at how much I paid for my Vaio TZ and that its not a supercomputer.
However, I don't think I would do that again due to that my requirements for it could have been mostly met by a netbook. But I am happy to see cheaper ultraportables now like the Acer 1410/1810 which is much faster than a netbook and the Atom processor and just a tad more expensive.
The Japanese are willing to pay a premium for ultraportable notebooks and which are far more popular there than here in the U.S.
Has the Vaio X been confirmed in North America? I'm wondering if Sony will eventually discontinue it here like the TT. I wonder what they will do to make it a success where the TT failed.![]()

not in Malaysia. they still selling it currently.
and i guess its gonna discontinue too here if the selling doesnt do well, just like VAIO G :z -
I think it will probably sell in North America. However, i do find it a bit odd that i cannot find any advertising about the X on the Sony.com website. On the UK website one of the first things that you see is a splash page for the X.
The TT is still being sold in the UK but shipping dates for CTO orders are now at like 5-6 weeks. This is sometimes an indication that a product will be pulled.
Vaio TT only discontinued in North America?
