Hi everyone, I have a Vaio TT290 with 4GB of ram and have heard that the TT's will accept 8GB ram total. I just purchased Corsair 4Gig sticks, DD3 1066 ram, tried 1 and the computer will not even go to Bios screen.

Do I need to have it paired with the exact same ram or is there something else I'm missing? Any help is appreciated.

Can you link to the ram that you purchased. I'm also thinking if there might be a problem with Corsair ram. Also, make sure that you've pushed the ram correctly into the ram slots.

This forum member with a TT290 originally purchased G Skill ram and the ram was defective and then returned it for Micron ram and as you see it worked for them.

I've done this 8GB upgrade and i'm also using Crucial/Micron ram. Another forum member has also used Hynix ram.

No, the ram doesn't need to be matched.
As i wrote before in another thread several TT1 owners have done this upgrade.
That ram should be ok but may be the ram is bad.
If you send it back i suggest you stick to Micron, Crucial or Hynix ram because as i wrote people have tried this and had no issue.
If you can't get a refund try the Kingston ram.

Perfect, thanks for your input I'll see if they have the Kingston as they were back ordered (probably for a reason :)

Ya just ordered it :) yaaa!

By the way I'm going to be putting in the silver keyboard keys on my black TT, I was going to get a white TT but thought this might be a cool idea along with SGPCraft leather top and palmrests. I'll post pictures once I'm done
