I recently purchased a Sony Vaio TXN25N/B and had many problems. Sony had me do a complete restore which has helped somewhat and now have sent me a Vaio Recovery Media Disk. My computer runs verrrry slow and they said this would repair it. My question is - will I lose all the programs and data I have entered since I did the compete restore. I have Windows Vista. Thanks for your help...

I did do a compete restore and it is faster - actually, that is not my question. The question is if I use the Recovery Media Disk, will it delete all the info I have put back on? Or were they in error telling me I should use the disk after the restore..

Yes, you will lose all information you have put into the notebook. The
recovery disc will return your notebook back to the original format.

So then - what is the difference between a fresh install and a complete restore?

Fresh install - Format hardrive, installs OS only. requires purchased OS disc.
Complete restore - Restores sytem back to the day you got it. OS and all bloatware. Requires restore disc or restore partition.

Restore is like going back in time to the day you got the notebook.
