Hi there. I went to my local Best Buy to check out the Sony Vaio TZ in person. Wow, it was a lot smaller than I had imagined. Anyways, I was opening and closing the TZ, and I noticed that the lid felt somewhat flimsy. It was wobbly, in the sense that I could "flick" it or gently tap it and it would wobble. It was really strange! I thought the lid was going to be extremely solid because of the carbon fiber material. Is this an inherent feature in all Vaio TZ notebooks? Has anyone had any problems with their lid, such as damages on the hinges, etc?

It definitel would be an issue with that floor model. If I shake my TZ it stops wobbling in 2 oscillations. The hinge is very tight so I'm assuming that you just played with a mis-treated TZ

Oh, okay that's very re-assuring. Yeah, I was very surprised at how wobbly the lid was for the Vaio TZ at Best Buy. I'm glad it doesn't appear to be a problem on un-used models.

Yeah, I'd blame the floor model. The TZ at the Best Buy I went to had seriously been abused - very battered case and it wouldn't even boot anymore.

Floor models at popular electronics stores tend to have wobbly lid as they are subjected to lots of views' abuse in trying/testing stuff. I personally won't worry too much as that is not really too much of an indication of what it will actually turn out to be...
