Hi
I'm wondering if it is possible to replace the 1.8" HDD with an 1.8" SSD with a ZIF adapter. The thing is, there are few 1.8" SSDs, and just about none 1.8" SSDs with ZIF, the first problem that comes to mind is the space, since the adapter takes a little, here's an example adapter:
This
Or This?
This?
And another thing, it would be alot easier to get a SSD into the TZ if I could use a 2.5" SSD in the DVD slot, there are alot more 2.5" SSDs around with SATA interface. I've read something about a kit to convert the DVD slot into a HD/SSD slot on these forums, but there were no links or clues on where to get the parts. I try to avoid to McGyver solutions.

I've got a similar question regarding this. Basically, do the TZ series with the 1.8" 100gb HDD have the ZIF connector as well? Or do only the TZ models that come with pre-configured SSD have ZIF connectors?
The reason I'm asking is because I plan on purchasing the TZ with a standard hard drive and then upgrade to SSD in a few months time and so, I need to know which SSD with which connector end I can purchase in order to replace the 100gb? -
I am wondering the same - perhaps a TZ expert will chime in!

Google with your HDD model number and see what connector you have.
My G11 has the 1.8" Toshiba MK1011GAH which Toshiba says have an LIF connector (but is better known as ZIF).
I'm fairly sure that the T series will also use ZIF because it is lighter and takes up less space.

Go to sony.com/dapc and search for model tz285n or tz295n or tz298n. They're selling ZIF 1.8" replacements for these laptops that are 100% compatible with your laptop. Be prepared to surrender your wallet though.
