Has anyone succeeded yet in getting the external vga connection to output 720p (1280 * 720)? I cannot seem to get it to work.

    Thanks in advance!

You may need something like PowerStrip or RivaTuner to set custom display modes. By default Windows is going to limit you to whatever the display tells it is a valid resolution, so you'll probably have to override it. The usual warnings apply of course, although these days it's hard to damage a display with bad timings.

Not to hijack this thread, but I'm interested if anyone has gotten 1920x1080 output over the hdmi on the FZ?

And the FZ will pass audio over the HDMI cable right?

No I can't get "true" 720p with my TZ via default settings; I can only seem to get *x768 resolution options (which is close enough for me) when using my Sony 40" XBR3 1080p LCD TV. I have not tried using DMorris's method.

My pany is has a 720p only for PCs and it works just fine. The dumb thing is that it doesn't support 720p for other than PC inputs :)

Touge, no I can't; the highest widescreen (16x9) resolution I can get with my Sony 1080p XBR3 is 1360x768, with regular Intel GMA driver and even after installing the updated GMA. Not sure if there's a utility that can help with that though. I remember reading a thread here a few months back of someone implying they were able to hit 1080p with the TZ but I'd have to search again to find it.

    EDIT: Found the thread:

Looks like you'll need PowerStrip as dmorris stated.

So you simply hook up your panasonic to the TZ external monitor and you can select 1280 * 720 for the display settings in Vista? You didn't have to do any setting up on the pany or the tz?

I have a Panasonic PT-AX200E, what do you use with your TZ?

I agree, panasonic makes some nice projectors. Do you use it with a TZ?

I've installed Powerstrip but I still cannot set the external VGA out to 720p. I also noticed that the TZ bluescreens a lot when in multi monitor mode, which makes it even more frustrating to work on fixing the output resolution.

    Any suggestions are welcome!
