Maybe my eyes are just too sensitive but I noticed some slight interference in the display on my TZ170N/N. It seems to be diagonal lines about 1mm apart, most noticeable when viewing video. Has anyone else had this problem? Does it sound like a faulty display? Thanks.

I called sony and the woman on the phone told me to send it in for repair or take it back to the store.I will goto the store with it tomorrow and see what they have to say. I got it for 1000 brandnew in the box so I would hate to have to return it for an issue like this. :( Has anyone else noticed this? Try watching a video and look for faint diagonal lines on the screen. My vaio has a sticker underneath of 08/07 so maybe on the newer ones it doesn't happen?

I can see them in the vista login screen's background a little bit... i don't think it's a flaw... i had to look VERY hard to see what you're talking about. Maybe post a picture.

Ill try to grab a picture in the morning. I got it for 1k at frys bc the tx series I bought from them had a bum dvd drive in it. I do think its a flaw bc I can see it in every video I watch. :(

Look by the clock and you'll see the distortion:

In this pic you can see it starting by the network icon:

Its hard to capture in a picture since it moves :(

This happens to my tx when i am displaying it on my external LCD, but i do not notice it on its own lcd.

Have you noticed a difference with or without the charger/battery? With/without wifi?

Well, it looks like the issue of engineering of the TZ. Probably just because of too close components to each other and not enough space to ZERO some components, or power adapter is located too close to graphics outputs.

I did not notice it when displaying on my tv and the laptop display off. Ill try the battery vs power adapter later and post my mindings. Do any of you others see the issue on your tz? Maybe its just a tz thing?

I tested on another tz 170 at frys and the same issue. I guess its just a qwirk with these tiny displays.

It's a quirk with all LED backlit displays manufactured by Toshiba-Matsu****a.

Does sony support say anything about the issue? I've seen same diagonals on new SR's and Z's today. Same on Sony,

I'm currently wondering how good your eyes are to notice something like that.
I can hardly distinguish pixels on an SZ, the TZ's are even smaller...

It's just an issue with LED screens I think... As far as I know you can only see it if you're moving your eyes or if something is moving on the screen (in movies for example). When you're far enough from the screen you want see the lines anymore.

Yah I got used to the lines. Unless I am looking for them now I hardly notice them anymore.
