My brand new 180n is not showing "n" mode in the SmartWi utility, even though the windows wireless control panel is showing that I am in fact connected at N speed.

Boy, no matter what I try, "n" is never listed as an option for SmartWi, even though the card is in fact "n" and the windows wireless control panel says it is connected at 130 (smartwi says 54).

Weird -- sony chat support was no help. They had me update smartwi and nothing changed.

OK I just realized this.. I have been on chat w/both Linksys and Sony to get my TZ into "N" and it has the whole time but SmartWi keeps saying i'm in abg w/speeds of 54. Has anyone come up w/a fix so SmartWi will say the real speed and "N" mode? I like SmartWi I just wish it would give the right info

Personally it sounds like a software bug that just needs to be reported to Sony so that they can provide a patch update to fix the problem. That being said, if the driver and speeds show you are getting the "N" speed, I don't see why it is a big deal to have Sony's software bother you. Personally, I usually uninstall the manufacturer's wireless utilities anyway because Vista's is good enough, or if I want something more powerful, I turn to my Network Magic software which I find to be very helpful and easy to use to manage and view my network and connected items.

I like the fact that I can switch from using WLAN to the Sprint Card (and bluetooth for my mouse) that's why I use it and I didn't see this post and I was going crazy trying to get my computer in "N" then by mistake I saw that windows was saying I was at a speed of 118 and the SmartWi was saying 54 and "abg". SO in a nut shell I like the program I just wish it had the real "N" and speed

So, your saying that windows accurately shows you getting the "N" speed, just the Sony program does not and you find it annoying correct? If that is the case, like I said, don't sweat the small stuff although I can understand how it could be annoying. Like I said, the best way to fix those kinds of software bugs is simply to report it so that Sony can see a trend and put some man hours into patching the software to fix the mislabel.

No I know.. I'm saying is that I trusted the SmartWi program and was going crazy for days speaking w/both Linksys and Sony customer Support to get my TZ into "N" and not one person told me to check in Vista and by mistake after days of them having me check everything I found that the whole time I was in "N"... I am on w/Sony Customer Support to try and report the issue.. but they just keep sending me links on how to set up the TZ to get "N"... I am like "I AM IN "N" I WANT TO REPORT A PROGRAM ISSUE"

Your right I'm not sweating it now, I'm just saying I didn't even realize there was an issue

Sony might have discontinued the Smartwi program, since I do not have it in my brand new TT180c :D

BlueTooth and wireless n has an icon on the tray. I do not have a wwan, but I would imagine that it will be shown under networks.
