Vaio TZ150n is a nice laptop with Sprint wireless build-in. But it's slow. Is there way to replace/upgrade CPU in TZ?

The only way to upgrade the CPU in that laptop involves soldering.

What make you feel the TZ is slow? Is it running Vista or XP?
I don't think it's the CPU unless you are running heavy programs.
First, I'd suggest you to add a 2GB ram if it doesn't have it. 1GB is not enough for Vista.
Second, I'd suggest to replace the hard drive with a SSD. -
Right, the lower end TZs in their factory state are very slow. First they have slow 4200rpm hard drives, then a relatively slow processor, coupled with a resource heavy operating system with only 1gb of ram and finally with all of Sony's bloatware equals a VERY slow system out of the box.
I've heard of some that returned their TZs because they were practically unusable out of the box which is a real **** shame Sony. I remember how slow the display TZs were at my Best Buy, it took over 1/2 a minute just to start up Microsoft Word 2007, I kid you not!
You can do these steps to drastically improve performance.
- Upgrade to 2gb of ram
- Upgrade HDD to 5400rpm or replace with SSD (solid state drive)
- Clean install of Vista with no Sony bloatware/upgrade to Service Pack 1
- Downgrade to Windows XP

TZ150 running Windows XP and have 2GB of RAM. Still it feel slow.
Some time ago I started applying 1.33 MHz overclock (forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=208095). It improves laptop performance. But XP freeze to often.
1. I heard that Linux laptop will be faster, application will run more quickly, and it provides more stable machine. Is it true?
2. I intend to install Linux (ubuntu.com) operation system on TZ and load few Windows programs through Wine (winehq.org). Where to download TZ150n drivers for Linux? -
Please specifically give an example of where did you find it slow.
1. Is it slow in booting? If it is, just clean up your startup and processes that you do not need.
2. Is it applications that you find slow, if so please give an example. I used the TZ to do photo editing, and I do not find it any slower than my desktop.
3. Is it games that you find it slow? If it is, TZ is not meant to play games. It is a business machine.
4. Try running 32M superpi and report back what time do you have, and I'll compare it with my TT, and someone else here can compare it to their Z. -
