I got a new linksys wireless router however I can't seem to connect my computer to the N band. I only seem to be on G at 54mbps. Is there a configuration setting I need to configure? Thanks in advance guys.

You'll need to set up the router to be running some variant of 'N', yup. There might be several options under wireless settings, like "B+G", "B+G+N", "G+N", "N-only", etc. I'm assuming your router is supposed to support wireless-N or you wouldn't have asked this question?

You'll get the best throughput by choosing "N-only" option, but this will prevent any other devices from connecting if they only support wireless-G.

If you think you've got all the settings right, you could always see if there's new firmware for your router or new drivers for the (?Intel) wireless adapter in your TZ... :)

Thanks guys. Yeah it's "N" I have the WRT600 Linksys Dual Band router. Is the difference between 2.4ghz and 5ghz range only? Or does that have to do with speed as well?

Yea with the intel wireless you have to use wpa or wpa2 it mentions it in the driver release notes apparently intel doesnt consider wep secure enough for high speeds but perfectly fine for 54mbps. If you want up to 150Mbps set the wireless to 2.4GHz in vaio smart network, if you want 300Mbps set it to 5GHz.

    Yes it's WPA2.

I tried your suggestion binaryr but everytime I try to stream large files through my own network I get disconnected from the net. =(

Do you have SP1 installed? Are there other computers connected to the router when you get disconnected?

Unfortunately draft N is not a standard and not all notebooks will play well with all routers check the manufacturers website of the router for a firmware update. When you do get disconnected does the netwwork icon in the system tray say disconnected or limited or no connectivity?
