I have bought a replacement unbranded battery for my sony vaio VGN FE41S laptop. The first problem was that sony uses clever technology to monitor the battery. It recognised that it was not OEM and told me to change the battery to a compatible one. Through this forum i have now removed the program that creates this message.

What happens now is that the battery can been seen by the computer, it can tell me how much charge is left in the battery, i can remove the AC lead and it will run on the battery, but when the lead is plugged back in the battery will not charge....the battery LED flashes fast continuously and when you turn the comp off and try to turn back on with battery installed, it will not let the laptop boot up, the mains LED comes on as does the battery (neither flashing just solid). To turn the machine on i have to remove the battery and then reinstall once the booting process has started.

The company who sent me the battery have sent me another to try and the same happens...... I am confused. The battery is identical and is a legit replacement.....over 200,000 happy customers on ebay......

    Help Please.....Julian
