I really can't help you with any advise but i can tell you that i have a same problem with my notebook after just one months and half from the date that i both it. It was in warrancy, i send it to sony to repare it..i receve it after one months with some electronic parts replaced and with more problems: funny noices, the same problem on boot it.I announce them about the problem but because of my wotk programme was imposible to send it back. From one months i just try to open and nothing. During this period ..when was working of corse, it was imposible to move it because if i was doing this, i just simple need hours or days to start the unit. Normally you buy a notebook to can work anywhere but mu unit was simple stucket on desk. Now my unit is out of warrancy and i really dont know what i prefere: to sell it part by part or just to true it on garbage. The cost of repaire is really big and i dont think that i am sure that i want to send my unit from 6 to 6 months for repair. And i really dont believe in the abilities and competence of the people that make the service. Somebody knows if i can resell the unit back to sony????Or just to receve a part of money to can buy a notebook that supose to donr have so many problems.

Ans something else..in case of a repair: the replaced piece have only 6 months warrancy. So if your notebook is new and after 2 months you have problem and they replace a part you just simple loose months of warrancy.Read the warrancy carefully. Everything it is only in their interests and nothing for customer.Call the sony suport center or simple create a case on www.vaio-link.com.My english is bad!

This type of behaviour indicates either mainboard or memory (RAM) issue.

It is quite common with the Sony Vaio laptops range. The only chance you have before sending it for repair is to open the RAM slots cover and reseat or replace the modules one by one. Remember to ground yourself to avoid static and take the battery out of the unit. If do a seacrh at the Sony site you will find a page with similar recommendations.

Here is a link to a forum where people discuss this problem:

On the first repair they replace me :Electronic Sub Ass:complete PWB PWS-51 and Electronic Sub Ass:complete PWB IFX-431. And when i spoke with the person that repair my unit he told me something about the mainbord but because i really dont have knowledge even today i dont know what was the problem. I ask an oficial paper with the diacnostic of my unit and they refuse it to present to me.I ask this paper because the person from call senter was telling me something and the person that repair the unit something else. really sony cant notice in write a diagnostic???is so secret???
