    Hi everyone

I have a vaio VGN_AR71M laptop, and recently i managed a fresh install of windows 7 X64 with all drivers including video card 8400m gt.

So i want to put my experince here so everyone can look at this method combined from DrCrank+bogart fron url:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=354360

    and

    Phoenix BIOS version - R2090J8
    BIOS value: (0285) [000 0] --------> (0285) [000 1]

and after the reboot it worked the vitualization is enabeld and i have downloaded all drivers needed and everything work fine 100% ,and from these pictures it confirm the virtualization:

    Hi Samozen,
    PERFECT!!!

I solved the VT issue on my VGN-AR71M using the same instruction you did. I works perfect.

However after installing Windows 7 I do have an issue with device drivers and the 'wonderful' Sony buttons (S1, S2, DVD eject).
Please share your knowledge and let us know what drives you've used, where we can get them and how you've solved the issue with the Sony buttons.

    Many, many thanks in advance!!!!

I have tried the method and everything seems to work in MS-DOS but I see no visual results.

    THANKS!!!
Used the Vista installation instruction (after downloading the necessary software and drivers).
I know have a 99% succesful Windows 7 Ultimate (Build 7600) implementation on my Sony VAIO VGN-AR71M!

Only thing that doesn't work is the S1 & S2 button. I can do without them anyway.

RadioFreeEurop's instruction can help a lot of VIA owners who have issues with the DVD eject button after a clean install.

Thanks again Samozen for your help!!

    Hi Sheikhspeare,
Perhaps the tool SecurAble can give you the visual result you're looking for (I hope I don't misunderstand your remark. I'm assuming you're not referring to any performance improvements)

I am trying to enable Windows 7 Aero on a 64bit system. I tried the the BIOS methods mentioned but nothing happened. Will SecurAble help me solve this problem?

    Hi Sheikhspeare,

    No

    First a little explanation.
VT stands for Virtualization Technologie and is used by VMware, Virtual PC (in Windows 7 you can install 'Windows XP Mode'), etc.
    For more information see Wikipedia:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86_virtualization

SecurAble is a tool that tells you whether you have VT enabled or not.
It will not improve your visual view of your Windows desktop.

To make use of Windows Aero you will need to install the correct driver for your display adapter after installing Windows 7.
Once the driver is installed the Aero themes will become available to you in the Personalization applet (rightclick on the desktop and select Personalize). Assuming your hardware meets the minimum requirements!

Minimum Hardware Requirements for running Windows 7 Aero:

    Hey everyone,

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! I've been so worried about drivers!

Question though. I have an AR770. Will these drivers work with my model even though I have slightly different hardware?

I've used the instructions provided by RadioFreeEurope
