If anyone can help I would appreciate it.. I just bought this laptop a month ago and the drive suddenly wont read any DVD. I called sony support and they instructed me to do a system restore, update the drivers and system recovery to no avail, is there anything else I am missing? Thanks for any help.

Try uninstalling the ide drivers. Windows will re-install them when re-booted.
