    Hello,

I just bought a Vaio VGN-FW530F and tried connecting it to an external LCD monitor via the VGA cable and had a not so good surprise.

    The image looks blurry/fuzzy.

I'm a computer engineer so before writing here I tried everything:

    • tested with two different LCDs: Samsung SyncMaster 2243nwx and an ACER. I've used these monitors before with my Acer 2243 and the image with the ACER Notebook is crystal clear.
    • checked the resolution to be ok with the monitor
    • played with the monitor settings
    -

All above are in vain. The monitors work well with my other laptop and I don't have HDMI od DVI on them to try with the VAIO's HDMI port.

I suspect a problem with the built in VGA port.

Any ideas how to solve this?

    Thanks,
    Catalin

Having the same sort of problem on Sony Vaio SR VGN-SR53GF running Windows 7 home premium.

Am trying to connect brand new Asus VE205T external LCD monitor (spec max resolution 1600x900) via the VGA connection, it does not detect this and gives me a max of 1360x768 or else 1280x1024 : both these give a blurry looking image on the LCD (no pixel smoothing??).

Reading on some forums, perhaps it's a problem with the Sony video card. If anyone can offer any help I'd be very grateful! Catalin, did you get yours to work?
