    Long post but this is my last resort,

    I have a sony VGN-NR385E I bought a new battery and it required a bios update But it was not 64bit so i got the UBCD windows ver and loaded that up and was able to run the program to update the bios how ever in the middle of it the computer shut off for no reason, and now wont come back on. I'm assuming it bricked the bios ... so is there any secret way to recover the bios?
    Thanks,

    why you did some chinness update of BIOS

    Basic
    Input
    Ouput
    System

    this few program lines wake up your comp

    now is MBX death

    only exchange of MBX is not chance to reburn BIOS if no POST

    Basically, your motherboard is dead now since it shut off during bios is flashing. I am not sure if your laptop was plugged to Ac outlet or just run on battery.
    You can find a shop who can remove the bios chip to reflash it (of course for a reasonable charge).

    @oni,
    I don't know where you live. If you are in the states, I can also HELP you to reflash the bios.
    Everyone in micropctalk forum know who I am.
