Hi there,
I'm trying to do a fresh installation of win 7 on this vaio.
However, I'm facing 2 issues for now:
1. It seems that i cannot find on the sony website drivers for the ricoh card reader and the touchpad (pointing device). I get two errors in the device manager one is saying "unknown device" the other "base system device". I want to believe that both of them are connected with the Ricoh card reader
2. Out of the whole sony vaio programs which ones are the ones that i definitely need? I have worked out that the Vaio "event service" is for the function keys to work, however do i need the "shared library" or the "setting utility series" which sound like system drivers?
Also, when i tried the event service on win7 32bit the function keys (and pop ups) were working fine, but on win7 64bit, only the sound and pop ups are working and not the screen brightness and screen selection.
Thanks for your help
****update****
I have checked the windows 7 update on the critical updates the sony parser driver was there. I have installed that and the "unknown device" from device manager has gone. What is more the fn keys with their events are all working fine now. What i realise is that after the main drivers i should install frist the sony parser driver and then any other sony programs.
However, that leads me to 3 fresh questions:`
1. do i still need to install the "shared library" and "setting utility series" even if i do not plan to install any other Vaio programs?
2. Where can i find the drivers for the "system base device" appearing in device manager and suspecting that it is for the ricoh pro magicgate?
3. Where can i find a driver for the touchpad as at the moment is working but the scroll up and down is not working..
thanks
