i have a vaio laptop, VGN-S38GP, it has a Geforce go6200.
i've cleaned ALL the dust inside the system by opening it up, and i also have a laptop cooler under it.
my laptop runs fine, but it overheats and turns off when i do excessive gaming, video converting, or watching videos.
does this mean my fan is broken or does it mean my video card is bad?

An old Asus of ours was also once (no longer works) making strange noises.
They came from the fan. Cleaning and reallignning it didn't bring anything.
And I doubt a videocard can make a noise... -
o video cards dont make noise?
ok i guess all i have to do is replace the fan... -
There are no moving parts in video cards.
Does you CPU make a noise? No.
Replacing the fan alone may not be the solution to your problem.
There could be more. -
so i shouldnt replace it?
its $80 for the fan, im hoping it will fix it... -
I can't tell you that.
All I'm saying is that its possible you buy a new fan and the problem prevails... -
thank you for your advice

You're welcome.
Maybe if someone had the exact same problem you'll get a detailed answer.
I wish you all the best and hope you'll solve your problem (i.e. repair the fault)
