System was purchased 6/3/2006. Used 99% of the time on AC power adapter.
Battey preformance has other wise been very good.
Today while system was on and connected to AC adapter, I disconnected the AC power adapter and instantly lost all power and system was dead.
I reconnected the AC adapter and powered back up. Windows Power Meter shows battery not present.
I went to Sony Support and had a online chat support session. I was asked to power down, disconnect the battery and clean the battery contacts on the notebook connector. Also was asked to go into the Bios and re-set to default values.
This did not correct the issue. After one more online support session, I was instructed to call Tech support level I @ 888-476-6972.
They reviewed my battery issue and took all my personal information. They requested me to Fax a copy of my Purchase receipt with the Event # they issued me.
I was told it would take 24 hours for them to verify my purchase and then they would mail out a replacement battery.
Has any one else experanced this type of battery problem?
If so, did the replacement battery correct the problem?
Thanks![]()

Did you calibrate your battery at all since you purchased the system? Please read through the battery guide for some care and maintenance tips for your Li-Ion battery.

To make along story short, no I never did any type of battery calibration.
Never the less it is not possable to do this now, as the system can't detect the battery being present.
Thanks for the calibration info, I try it once I receive the replacement battery.

There is actually quit a bit in the archives about this. Do a search on "Battery not present" and weed through the exploding battery issues. There are a few similar cases two where removing various files fixed the problem. I must tell you that my computer had a similar problem (Computer claimed the battery I was using was not made by Sony) and Sony ended up replacing it for me. Good luck.

The replacement battery resolved the issue. I'm back up and running again.

Glad to hear you're back in business. -

I had exactly the same experience. "Battery not found" last weekend. Called Sony yesterday. Battery replacement arrived today.

There seems to be a trend here. It seems like a number of batteries are all failing to get recognized at around the same time. Hopefully it's just a bad batch and not universal.
Glad to hear you guys all got fresh new batteries. -

I'v got same issue with my VGN SZ-110 today. System was purchased on April 2006.
But I not lucky as you. I live in Russia and I bought my notebook on "gray market" (this model was made for USA market) and I don't have service like in other world (Sony don't have woldwide warranty)...
So maybe someone have idea how to restore battery by myself? -
no way you can do that kid
buy a new one for $500
or roar at the seller -
