I'm having trouble with the sound on my Vaio. A problem in that it has stopped working. When I try to open the volume control I get a message telling me there are no active mixer devices available. I've un-installed and re-installed my drivers several time and that fixes the problem temporarily, but as soon as I use a different audio source (ex. switching from listening to music on Media Player to a game) I lose audio again and get the same error message again whenever I try to open my volume controls. Additionally, recently my sound has stopped working at all on any games. I've checked that the in game audio is on, which it is, but I still get no sound.

Oh, and I still get the error beep sound, the shutdown and startup noise and other windows noises, so I am sure that my sound card is fine, and it's a software problem.

Any ideas? Anyone else had this problem? I've given up on fixing it myself.
