    Hi guys

One of my users has an SZ48 running Vista Business, on a PR-SZ docking station. The problem they're encountering is that every so often, the LAN link will just disappear and they'll lose network connectivity completely. It will also not pick-up the LAN connection if you try to dock it while it's on - it has to be restarted completely.

It works fine without the docking station i.e. LAN cable plugged in directly. This is the 2nd docking station I've put this laptop onto, having sent the 1st one away for repairs. Now I have the new one doing exactly the same thing.

Does Sony have a separate driver for just the Port Replicator? I have a feeling this is more likely than not just a driver issue with Vista.

    Thanks in advance.

The problem went away for a while with no help from me, which was weird.

However, the user who logged the initial call phoned me the other day to say that it started playing up again. When you un-dock, work for a while and re-dock the laptop, the network connection doesn't come back. If you then restart the laptop while its on the docking station, the NIC will be live when the machine boots up.

Quite weird - I think it may have something to do with Power Settings, but I haven't had time with to look at it yet.

Let me know if you come across a fix.

    Thanks,
    healer
