i wanted to know if you can upgrade the RAM of the VAIO VGN-SZ48GN to 4GB. im confused about this since the specs say its based on a Centrino Duo Platform AFAIK all the Centrino Duo Platforms using a discrete gfx card can support 4GB RAM. but the data sheet from sony says that the max supported RAM is 2GB. why?

Actually, the maximum RAM should be 3 GB's because the SZ48GN uses the old 'Napa Platform'. I don't know why Sony says it can support only 2 GB's of RAM, but I am positive that 3 GB's is the notebook's limit.

Also, remember that a 32 bit OS can only utilize up to ~3 GB's of RAM, meaning if you installed 4 GB's of RAM, then Windows can only use 3 GB's of the RAM. So you have 2 limitations that keep you from having 4 GB's of RAM.
