    Its difficult.

You can do 1 thing though ... you do a clean installation of windows ( get a clean installation disk ). make sure it is the SAME version ( basic, premium, business or ultimate ) that sony provided you. After you do the installation, CHANGE the product key to the one which was provided to you. Look for the sticker underneath the laptop. It should be there unless you have ripped it off..

you can get the drivers and other installers from sony support.

Sorry, I deleted my vista as soon as I got the laptop :/

It might be more files that are corrupted, dont you think it would be better to order new discs from sony?

BTW, how come you dont have the hidden partition anymore?

In my case, I did not get any recovery disk. I had to burn the recovery disks myself.

The hidden partition is actually the recovery partition. It is only mounted (shown) only when i was burning the recovery disks. If you are making a system recovery, then it can be recreated. It is in fact located BEFORE the c drive.

I do not have that file which you are looking for. Mine is an FW series. I had the office STUDENT edition.

you can try and use " ultraISO" and extract the files from the DVD ( if possible ). Then you will have some help. BUT REMEMBER, all these disks have a BOOT IMAGE. So if you blankly copy the files, it might not work, not disk 1 I'm sure, not sure abt disk 2. You can extract the boot image from disk 2, and if the file extraction is successful, you can apply the boot image to the NEW ISO you will make.

If this fails, I guess sony support is the next option. Contact sony support, see how they can help..

Does this mean that if I were to install Vista Business from scratch, I can use the product code on the bottom of the notebook to activate it? Or do I need the activation code that comes with Vista?

You install with the key given for the installation disk. After you install, you change the product key ( as it is registered for your computer ). So you save your time, and you also save your back from pirated OS, as well as getting a product registered to your name.
