    Hello,

It seems my VGN-Z21WN wifi module is dead. Whenever I put the wireless switch on "ON", the led never lit up :(

Is this known issue ? Is there something I could try before sending it to Sony support center ?

    Thank you in advance.

Mine too, although i can get it to work if i uninstall it from device manager, let it reinstall and boom it works... for a couple minutes before it dies again. I've given up on it and now use a mini usb wifi adapter. It's annoying being forced to rely on it for wifi but it's far more aggravating trying to get the intel 5100 to work :|

Same problem here. Windows wifi system tray tool (and the Intel Wifi tool) reports "A physical WiFi adapter is not installed", which it is of course but isn't being recognized

Has anyone tried reinstalling their OS or the Windows 7 upgrade. I've tried reinstalling drivers in XP Pro but no difference.

I bought a Belkin ExpressCard WiFi card which works fine but sticks out.

I've seen one or two hints at similar problems maybe deal 5100 board or wiring problem near the 5100 causing a short

Anyone had this problem and fixed it with software reinstall or hardware through Sony Service?

Why don't you contact Vaio-link service and ask if the problem is known? All the laptops use to have at least 1 year warranty and the Z21WN is not really that old.

Don't have that problem with mine Z21WN btw...

    Thank you for your answer.
Sony support told me to reinstall the drivers without luck. It is now back to Sony for a hardware replacement
