OOS once you actually order it, credits to Maven for finding that out. Sorry guys
Hey guys, I know some of you (like me) got a VPC-Z1 CTO and didn't get a 1080p screen because it wasn't an option, well, i was just researching to see how much it would cost again, and ebay has it for ~$500... well, i look through Sony here:
https://servicesales.sel.sony.com/ecom/accessories/web/index.jsp
and here:
https://www.servicesplus.sel.sony.com/sony-parts.aspx
for part number: A1769473A, description: LCD LT131EE11000 (S) [13.1/FULL-HD_HDAR/
and it comes up as $199.44...
Note: the number LT131EE11000 is the LCD part number of the Toshiba screen (that's in the Vaio Z).
I just wanted to give you guys a heads up... and now i'm really tempted to jump on this...

1080p - $200
8GB RAM - $80
32GB class 10 SDHC - $100
Total $380
Should I or should I not? -
Its back ordered upon checkout
Item is no longer available. They substitute it with another like part for $471.68. (A1813439A) <--- Substitute part number -

args if Maven is right... total sad face (but i guess it'll save me $200 i can spend on SSD for my desktop)
but 8 GB ram is front page slickdeals for $55: 8GB (2x4GB) G.Skill DDR3 1066 Laptop Memory $55 with free shipping - Slickdeals.net
you dont need 32GB class 10 SDHC, instead, why dont you buy the newmodeus caddy for $43: 2nd hard drive / SSD caddy - Sony VAIO Z, Z11, Z12, Z13, VPC [SONY-2BAY-Z11] - $43.00 : NewmodeUS, Hard Drive Caddys for Notebooks
and add any 2.5" drive you want (500 GB $50) for $93 and you get 500gb as opposed to 32 gb
nooo.... try sparepartswarehouse... they say they got it... for $208 but no tax and recycle charge here in Cali... And darn, i wish i knew when it first dropped that low... -
when i just checked it 11.36pm gmt -4. it says in stock and i was able to add to cart and reach checkout for 199$
don't really know if it then goes to backorder after that or what.
but i like my 1600x900 display. so no go for that.

Yeah, i got to your screen too, but i didnt add card, etc... I dunno though, just wanted to give you guys a heads up. I'd love a 1080p screen more, perfect for software development and increase DPI if it's too small -
You have to go to the final step where you confirm payment. It shows 0 in stock there. I know this is not what the system shows beforehand.
I ordered it, but got an email stating that it was going to be exchanged for the higher priced part. -

Exchanged... but for the same price???
-
I wish... No luck there.

in 4 1 for upgrade

Yeah if you saw what maven said, it's all out of stock and they'll replace it with a $400 replacement... sorry guys, got all your hopes up -
$400 is still better than $585 on eBay
-
You could probably buy a really nice IPS monitor for around that price, that is what I personally would rather do than suffer from eye strain. My .02
-
Barely. I just tried placing an order for the $199.44 part, it comes out to $517.40 after tax and shipping.
Pretty scummy.
Any idea what the 1600x900 display goes for on eBay? Couldn't find completed listings for it or for the 900p part. -
is a Laptop LCD really that expensive? Or does it have everything to do with the resolution? Is 900p a TN while the 1080p is a IPS? I don't know?
thanks -

it's the resolution and the fact that no other laptop has this screen. They're both TN panels, albeit very good ones (except for the inherent drawback of TN, which is narrow viewing angles) -
I pretty much always look straight at my laptop screen... so I am not sure that I really care all that much
-
I found a replacement screen (1600X900 - not the full HD 1080) here:
13.1" LCD Screen Display for Sony A1769474A - Daily-Mart - Repair Parts Store | LCD Laptop Screens |
At $127.00 I figured it was worth a try! I'll have to update this to see if it's real or not once I get the part.
