Hey guys,
Had been relenting to try win 8 for awhile now and finally did so last week on my secondary partition. I clean installed Win 8.1 Pro x64 Wmc edition and after the install, have a few issues with it. I installed all the drivers on the Win 8.1 drivers page of the Vaio vpccb15fa on Sony's MEA page. Support for VPCCB15FA : C Series : VAIO⢠Notebook & Computer : Sony Middle East & Africa
The Sata driver fails to install due to I/o error and the same for the intel chipset driver. I waited this long due to the nightmare that Sony driver support is. Was I supposed to install all the 8 drivers first, then upgrade them to the 8.1? Where is the Sony Shared libraries for Win 8.1 that used to control the fn keys in Win 7.
Problems
1. Screen brightness, and all Fn keys (except the Vol +- ) don't work.
2. Right click on the desktop takes like 20 seconds for it to respond. (I think I've found a fix for this)
3. The battery manager says my battery is not installed properly or is fake, which is news to me, since it worked fine in Win 7 and is the factory battery.

Ok guys, I have solved the problems. Even though I clean installed Win 8.1 I needed to install the Vaio Control center V. 6.0 from Win 8 not the one from Win 8.1 as it is an update version and doesn't fully function without the prior version. It was funny though how when I tried installing the various vaio care updates setup and patches for Win 8.1, It used to say that I had already installed a newer version of Vaio Care though none was installed.
Now battery care function works as well as all my function keys, and assist, web and vaio buttons. The only thing now is when I adjust brightness or other Fn settings, I don't see the on screen indicators on the bottom of the screen showing the level of increase or decrease, alas the keys work now.
So basically if you are clean installing 8.1 install all the original Win 8 drivers then all the Win 8 driver patches and then all the Win 8.1 drivers and then all the Win 8.1 driver patches. -
Good work, next4nextel. Not applicable for my old laptop, but I applaud your efforts and willingness to share the knowledge.
