A friend“s VPCEH has manifested a weird problem: the laptop's screen doesn't seem to get a video signal.

The backlight works fine (adjusting it I can see the backlight brightness fluctuate normally), however the screen is pitch black.

External monitors work fine through HDMI.

I've ruled out software issues (the POST screen doesn't show either), obviously this is a hardware fault.

Since the backlight seems to be working fine, the only thing I can think of is a faulty display cable.

Has anyone dealt with such a problem? Any suggestions?

No one? Apparently the display harness costs about as much as a new panel and I'm trying to decide which to order.

Could this be a motherboard issue?
