Recently, my F115FM's screen broke. Friend stepped on it and that was that. I've been looking for a new screen. Mine came with the 1080 display and I notice that screen is, at cheapest, $300-$400. The 900 display, however, can be had for under $100.00 all day long.

I don't use the computer for movies and I just want it functional again.

Both displays (x1080 and x900) seem to be CCFL backlit.

I shouldn't have any trouble replacing the broken x1080 display with the x900 display, right?

    Thanks in advance.

You should probably take the screen out and get the exact replacement part. My screen got cracked too and I have ordered a 1980 x 1080 matte screen for about $100. Be sure to get the exact part number for your individual laptop. This was the one for mine: Chi Mei N164HGE-L12-RevC1.

My order hasn't come in yet, but should in a few days.

    Mine's got the Sharp LA164M1LD4C.

That's actually very strange. Apparently it's got the 1600x900 screen in it. I never payed much attention to it's native resolution but the decals that came on the palm rest state "Full HD display", so I assumed it had the 1920x1080 screen.

Seems I answered my own question.

    Edit:

Or not. Sharp was tricky with this one.

    LQ164 D1LD4C = 1600x900
    LQ164 M1LD4C = 1920x1024

The 1920x1024 screen is still $300-$400, and I'm trying to avoid a costly repair. With part numbers that similar I'm sure it'll work as a drop-in replacement now.

To anyone who may, in the future, run across this with the same question..

Yes, the LQ164D1LD4C will work in-place of the LQ164M1LD4C, but not by default. You must remove the keyboard and set the DIP switches.
