I've had my vaio z since the summer of 2010, and lately it's been having some serious overheating issues. Any remotely processor/graphics heavy application will cause the laptop to shut down due to overheating. Speedfan is reading GPU/Processor temperature around 70C AT IDLE, and doing something as simple as watching youtube will send it to about 80C. I took it apart enough to check the insides for debris, and they are clean, and the fan runs. The exhaust port of the computer just nearly spits fire if you use the computer for just about anything. I'm probably going to format and reinstall Windows, since it's about that time anyway. Any thoughts on this issue?

have you checked the thermal paste between the CPU and the heatsink? have you reapplied it?

I have some on the way. Are there any good guides on how to get past the heatsinks? Most stop with lifting the keyboard off the unit.
