I just bought the new sony vaio vpc-f1290x customized laptop with the majority of the available upgrades. I have had the thing about a month now and last night the screen decided to go haywire on me! Upon start up, the screen displays horizontal lines that sporadically change and then after a little bit the screen goes completely white.
I can plug it into my tv via hdmi and everything is fine which has me worried that the connection between the motherboard and monitor has an issue. The last thing I want to do is send this thing back to sony and wait a few weeks for them to fix it....after all, I did buy it to use for college!
Im hoping that the 15 new software downloads that showed up on vaio care this morning may help it but, being experienced in building pc's...I dont think its a software issue.
Is anybody else having these problems?![]()

Not what you want to hear! - but sounds decidedlylike a hardware issue.
Thats bad luck mate. -
Called Sony this morning and talked to support. They will be sending somebody to my house to repair my pc which makes me a happy camper. Much better than having it shipped out to a repair facility and waiting for it to come back!

Its good that they are sorting it out quickly. Talk to the guy when he comes and just make sure he is from Sony and done these types of repairs before. There was a story about a TZ where the guy that came indirectly worked for Sony and hadnt repaired one before and it all ended in tears. A bit of friendly chat will give you a good idea.
