    Hi!

I have a Vaio Z4. I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with all available drivers.
I recently run into the problem that when closing the lid, that the notbook does not enter standby mode as it should. It keeps on, screen black, and no response to anything... if this happens, I can only turn it off and on again.
This is very annoying especially when quickly leaving the notebook to find it 2 hours later still on... :(

Does any Vaio Z owner have the same issue? Anyone with an idea why this happens?

    Thanks in advance!

Go to the power management in the control panel. Disable when closing lid function.

Actually, I would prefer this function to work properly. I do want it to go into standby mode when closing the lid. But as said, it currently "hangs" 1 out of 2 times... :(

Are you using Google Chrome by any chance? Had same problem and it was caused by Google Chrome.

You can use the built in utility in W7 to find out whats causing it. Open an elevated command prompt and type in powercfg I forget the commands but one will output an energy report that tells you what might be causing the problem.

    I am not using chrome.
But maybe the powercfg command might give me a clue...
