Hey guys, so ive been reading that everyones got like 3.68gbs of ram out of 4 and whatnot, mine is showing only 2.3gbs. Anyone know how i can fix this or is something terribly wrong?

Just go in start menu, search for MSCONFIG, start it.
Choose "Boot" and then "advanced", untick "allow maximum memory" and reboot.
    It should be ok.

(I just saw yesterday that ticking this option reduced my memory to precisely 2,3GB from my usual 3,63GB.)

Sometime it is not only the msconfig boot one, but also the registry one.

I totally forgot where i put the address but basically this tweak is changing ram size from the manual <256 to more than 1 gb.

So it is better to change back.

I realize the "Boot" part. Does that mean it would affect boot time? If so, in a good way or bad way?

I have 8 gigs and it's showing 7.68GB as used on my VPCZ117...and for that solution it was already unticked by deafult :(

Thats normal, the integrated card (stamina mode) reserves some of that memory.

It's actually not the GMA graphics, it's the Intel Management Engine steals some RAM for PAVP.

H55 Boards exhibit the same behavior even when internal GPU is disabled or not present.

Although it's more common name in most BIOS's is DVMT. And in notebooks OTHER than Sony Vaio's this is, most of the time, adjustable.

Not display memory, secure memory allocated by intel management engine for the protected audio video path (pavp).
