    Hi guys,

I purchased a sony vaio z36gd in March of this year and with the release of windows 7 a new months away, I was wondering what is the best option to upgrade my HHD to a SSD option. Can it be done by sony to not void my warranty or do I have to do it myself? Also, what would be your recommended SSD to upgrade to, looking for a RAID 0 configuration seen in the SSD option for the vaio z. Thanks in advance!

Intel has just released a new SSD. I believe it's the top dog at the moment, but better ask in the SSD thread or read some reviews.

It's been quite a while my first generation of Intel X25-E 64G was installed into my Z, and it outperformed all other brands until the latest generation of Samsung MLC is used in the latest Z for raid 0. Here are some benchmark results of my X25-E 64G:

If there is enough cash to burn, I would recommend trying to buy the raid 0 cable, the raid 0 framework, and a pair of the upcoming Intel X18-M 320G to form a raid 0 of 640G, which should theoretically be a monster :)
