Just wondering if there is a way to manually switch the backlight on the keyboard on and off. Or a way of overriding the sensor?

You can´t turn the backlight on manually. There´s a light sensor, so the backlight only goes on when it gets darker (when you active the option above ofcourse). Which seems like perfect logic to me, since that's what the backlight keyboard is made for; light in the dark.

DO NOT TURNN OFF LIGHT? That keeps it ON, and unchecking the top options if OFF. Please read next time.

The "Do not turn off light" set the backlight always ON...

...when the light sensor report that the environnement IS DARK... (it's written also)

The only way to force the backlight is to check that "do not turn off" option AND to hide the sensor from light.
