I recently ordered one of the new Vaio Z series and while I have poured through what feels like hundreds of pages on these forums, it seems like google leads me here more often than me just finding what I want.

I was interested in third party drivers for video, since I haven't yet heard of a company that even updates their drivers more than once or twice- found it here. Awesome. I was interested in protective skins, doesn't appear to be any commercially available but lead here and found a how to make your own, thats cool. Finding a use for those useless VaioCare buttons? Its here! I was looking for an ExpressCard to work with my eSATA hard drive, found a good post here.

It seems like everything I can think of to get the most out of my future Vaio can be found on these forums, the people here are great! Now I am wondering if there are things I would be interested in for my Vaio Z that I haven't thought of that I could get keyed in on? I can only successfully find what I'm looking for in the first place :D

Well, first, i'd like to say welcome to the community :)

here's a post from me to someone:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/son...l-owners-thread-part-2-a-153.html#post7046683

details a few things i thought he'd be interested in once he got his Z.

If you need more storage space, you can replace the internal SSDs with aftermarket ones (requires 2.5" drives that are stripped of their enclosures) or consider replacing the optical drive with a Blu-ray drive (if you have a DVD drive) or a 2.5" hard drive (with the NewModus caddy.

For software, you can hack your BIOS (which is locked up pretty tightly) and even try Ubuntu linux on your Z.

There's many things that have been discussed here, but i've forgotten a few things. In any case, hopefully that helped pique your interest.

You can replace them with 1.8" drives w/o their enclosures.
